I have stopped nagging my husband, and I can say from the bottom of my heart, I am so much happier.
My husband, has always told me that I overreact too much, that I get too worked up, and I am constantly nagging him. We argue about his lack of effort in our relationship and his share of chores. I have to remind him to be romantic, affectionate, and tidy up after himself.
Recently, after a traumatic event where I needed comfort and support, but received none from him, I decided to stop giving what I wasn't receiving. I halted all expressions of love, support, and affection towards him, leading to a noticeable change in our dynamic.
I shouldn't give if I don’t receive, so I stopped. everything. Love, support, nurturing, any physical intimacy (kissing, cuddling, etc), I stopped telling him what needed to be done, I stopped ASKING for romance and well everything, I stopped "nagging" as he would say.
As a result, my mental health improved significantly, and he began to notice the change, trying to make amends and show more affection.
He's being more physically intimate (although I'm the one rejecting now), he's asked on multiple occasions if I have fallen out of love with him, he's even tried apologizing for the way he's acted in the past.
Despite his efforts, I feel liberated by the change and have no intention of reverting back to the old dynamic.
🏠 The Aftermath
Since I stopped expressing affection and support, my mental health has significantly improved, and I feel a sense of freedom.
He is now the one actively seeking my affection and support, trying to make amends for taking me for granted in the past.
The consequences of my decision have led to a role reversal in our relationship, with him now seeking what I used to desperately ask for.
I feel happy that he is now feeling and carrying the weight that I carried for so long.
While I acknowledge mixed emotions, I am content with the current state of affairs and the newfound balance.
