AITA for Responding to a Server After She Kept Making Comments About My Pregnancy?

For some context, I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant.

After work one evening, I met my husband and one of our friends at a local raw bar for oysters and beer. Obviously, I couldn't enjoy either of those while pregnant, but I was perfectly happy just spending time with them.

I arrived a few minutes after they did, just as the server was greeting them.

As I walked up to the table, she looked at me and laughed before saying,

"I see you waddling over... you can't eat here!"

I assumed she was trying to make a joke, so I laughed politely and replied that I was perfectly happy just hanging out with everyone.

After we ordered drinks, my husband started asking the server about the different oyster selections.

I was actually the one who introduced him to oysters several years ago.

Before my pregnancy, going out for oysters and craft beer was one of our favorite date-night traditions.

Since I've spent more time learning about different oyster varieties and the regional differences in flavor, I usually help choose the oysters. Likewise, my husband typically picks the beers because that's his area of interest.

As the server explained the available oysters, I started discussing the options with my husband and recommended a few varieties that I thought he'd enjoy.

Our friend wasn't interested in oysters and ordered something else.

The server appeared irritated by our conversation and commented that I was being "bossy."

I chose not to respond.

When it came time to order, I simply placed the oyster order for my husband and didn't comment on anything else for the table.

After finishing the first round, my husband decided he wanted another dozen oysters.

He called the server back over and specifically asked me to tell her which oysters he had enjoyed so he could order more of the same.

At his request, I placed the order.

That's when everything changed.

The server looked visibly annoyed and said that I was "pushing him around."

She then added,

"I hope you come back after you're not pregnant so I can meet the real you."

That comment caught me completely off guard.

At that point, I finally responded.

I looked at her and calmly asked,

"Would you prefer that we order less?"

She immediately became quiet, turned around, and walked away.

From that point forward, another server took over our table for the rest of the evening.

Looking back, I do believe some of her comments crossed the line.

At the same time, I also know pregnancy hormones are real, and I've wondered whether I should have simply ignored the remarks instead of responding.

My friend believes I was completely justified.

My husband agrees the comments were inappropriate but thinks it probably wasn't worth engaging.
